Long Beach saw two shootings, including a deadly homicide, followed by a fatal motorcycle crash over a roughly 24-hour period.

On September 9 at about 3:26 p.m., officers responded to the area of 21st Street and Cerritos Avenue for a reported shooting. A male adult was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. Homicide detectives are investigating, and police say the shooting may be gang related.
At approximately 5:51 p.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of Lemon Avenue for another shooting. A 17-year-old girl was found with a gunshot wound to the lower body. She was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The motive and suspect information remain under investigation, with police saying the incident may also be gang related.
On September 10, detectives began investigating a fatal traffic collision at Atlantic Avenue and Villa Park that claimed the life of a male adult motorcyclist.
All three investigations remain ongoing.
