Burglar Shot, Killed by Resident in North Long Beach

On January 2, 2017 at 5:16 AM Long Beach Police Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 200 block of Artesia Blvd.

When LBPD officers arrived they found a male adult who had been shot in the torso. Long Beach Fire department responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Officers are detaining a male adult who had remained at the scene of the shooting.
Initial information from officers at the scene is the incident was a burglary that was occurring at the location and a resident shot the suspect.

The resident called police and remained at the scene. Homicide Detectives are at the location conducting the investigation. The incident is not believed to be gang related at this time.

The investigation is on going.
