Long Beach police had a busy overnight responding to multiple violent incidents across the city, including a SWAT activation, a stabbing, and a shooting connected to an attempted catalytic converter theft.
The first incident occurred at approximately 10:36 p.m. Monday in the area of 3rd Street and Orange Avenue, where officers responded to a reported restraining order violation. Police contacted a male suspect who refused to exit a residence. After officers and crisis negotiators attempted to de-escalate the situation without success, SWAT personnel responded and safely took the suspect into custody.
About an hour later, at approximately 11:26 p.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of East Del Amo Boulevard after reports of a stabbing. Officers found an adult male suffering from non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported him to a local hospital. According to the preliminary investigation, the victim became involved in a physical altercation with another adult male, which escalated when the suspect stabbed him. The suspect remains under investigation.
The violence continued into Tuesday morning. At approximately 4:18 a.m., officers responded to the 4600 block of East Goldfield Avenue regarding a shooting. Police located an adult male suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. Investigators say the victim confronted a group of suspects who were allegedly attempting to steal a catalytic converter from a vehicle. During the confrontation, one of the suspects reportedly shot the victim before fleeing. The victim was transported to a local hospital, and investigators are continuing to search for the suspects.
