Long Beach City plans to provide 40 free food carts for sidewalk vendors

Long Beach is set to offer 40 free food carts to sidewalk vendors as part of its initiative to bolster their support.

Comments can be submitted via the city’s online vendor portal, Long Beach Buys, until April 19. Police Arrest Four Suspects in Fatal Shooting of M

Police Arrest Four Suspects in Fatal Shooting of Mario Morales-Moreno

Long Beach Police Department Chief of Police Wally Hebeish announces the arrest of four suspects responsible for the shooting of Mario Morales-Moreno.

Homicide Detectives, with the assistance of detectives from the Special Investigations Division arrested the four suspects believed responsible for the April 4, 2024 murder of Mario Morales-Moreno, a 51-year-old resident of Long Beach.

Detectives booked the following four suspects for the murder and firearms-related charges:

Taylor Byron Woods, a 20-year-old resident of Bellflower, was booked for one count of murder. Woods was originally arrested on the night of the incident by patrol officers and found to be in possession of a firearm. He was booked for murder on April 8. Bail was set at $2,000,000.

Tyrell Deshawn Louden, a 20-year-old resident of Indio, was booked for one count of murder. Louden was arrested on April 9 by the Riverside Sheriff’s Department in the city of Indio and transported to Long Beach City Jail. Bail was set at $2,000,000.

Jordan Omarion Stokes, an 18-year-old resident of Long Beach, was booked for one count of murder. Stokes was arrested on April 6, 2024, by the Gardena Police Department for weapons violations unrelated to this murder. Detectives coordinated with the Gardena Police Department and took custody of Stokes on April 9, who was booked for one count of murder. Bail was set at $2,000,000.

Semaj Lamar Obrien, a 21-year-old resident of Long Beach, who was booked for one count of murder. Obrien was arrested by Special Investigations Division detectives and booked for murder on April 8.Bail was set at $2,000,000.

During the arrests, officers recovered multiple firearms. Detectives served search warrants in the cities of Long Beach, Bellflower, and Indio. Evidence was recovered during the search warrant service. Homicide detectives believe the motive to be gang related, however, the investigation remains ongoing.

Mario Morales-Moreno, aged 51, was doing routine yard work outside his home when he was tragically shot to death.

The aftermath of this senseless act has left loved ones and the community in mourning.

LBPD Identify Man Shot and Killed Doing Yard Work.

Long Beach Police identified Mario Moreno Morales, 51, of Long Beach, who was fatally shot while doing yard work at his residence near Lime Avenue and East 61st Street Thursday evening.

Witnesses reported he was using a leaf blower when shots were fired, resulting in a head injury. Another individual sustained gunshot wounds to the lower body but is expected to recover.

Homicide detectives were immediately dispatched to the location to commence their investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that the assailant(s) discharged multiple rounds towards the victims. However, investigators currently do not believe that the deceased victim was the intended target of the shooting. The motive behind the violent act remains unknown.

Upon initial response, law enforcement apprehended three male subjects in the vicinity, with one found in possession of a firearm. Subsequently, one of the subjects was arrested. However, the extent of their involvement in the incident is yet to be determined and remains subject to ongoing investigation.

A man was tragically gunned down on a sidewalk in front of his residence in Long Beach on Thursday evening.

The incident, which unfolded near Lime Avenue and East 61st Street, sent ripples of fear and concern through the neighborhood.

A family member wrote a comment on LBLN’s Instagram: That was my uncle. I’m still in disbelief he was a war veteran just retired from the army two years ago 2 tours in Iraq. just got his masters last year all he did was love all his nieces and nephews and his family. He was a good person and I don’t just mean that because he was my favorite uncle. Police responded to reports of a shooting on Thursday evening at 6:46PM near Atlantic and 61st Street.

Upon arrival, LBPD found two individuals with gunshot wounds (GSWs), one sustained to the upper body and the other to the lower body.

LBFD immediately began medical treatment for the 2 shooting victims.

LBPD arrested multiple suspects possibly connected with the incident.
The arrests took place on the 6100 block of Linden Ave, in close proximity to the scene of the shooting.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation by LBPD as they work to determine the motive and sequence of events leading up to the incident.

The identities suspects have not been disclosed at this time.

Residents in the area are urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities as they continue their investigation into this disturbing occurrence in North Long Beach.

Tragic Shooting Claims Life of 17-Year-Old Girl in Long Beach

Homicide detectives are currently investigating the heart-wrenching case of a fatal shooting that took the life of Briana Soto a 17-year-old girl on March 26, 2024.

According to authorities, the incident unfolded around 8:26 p.m. in the vicinity of 11th Street and Lewis Avenue.

LBPD officers swiftly responded to reports of gunfire and discovered the teenage victim with a gunshot wound to her upper body. LBPD officers administered immediate medical assistance before she was rushed to the hospital by personnel from the Long Beach Fire Department.

Tragically, despite efforts to save her, the victim passed away on March 30th at a local hospital. Upon investigation into the events of that fateful evening, homicide detectives revealed that the victim was walking home from work when she was confronted by the perpetrator(s), leading to the fatal shooting.

The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation as authorities continue to piece together the details surrounding this senseless tragedy.The Long Beach community mourns the loss of yet another young life.

14-year-old girl was injured in a shooting involving a stolen car, as reported by the Long Beach Police Department.

The incident unfolded around 6:40 p.m. on Thursday evening.According to authorities, the teenage girl was among a group of individuals traveling in a stolen Kia when the alarming event transpired.

The group had come to a halt at an intersection near 11th and Linden Avenue. At this point, they engaged in some form of interaction with a male driver.

Suddenly, the situation escalated when the unidentified driver discharged a firearm towards the Kia, causing injury to the 14-year-old victim.Following the shooting, the group swiftly dropped off the wounded girl in the 1100 block of Linden Avenue, in close proximity to St. Mary Medical Center.

Subsequently, emergency services were contacted, and paramedics promptly transported the injured girl for medical attention.Law enforcement officials initiated an investigation into the incident.

While the stolen Kia was swiftly located, crucial details regarding the suspected gunman remain under active investigation by the LBPD.

Thankfully, authorities have confirmed that the injuries sustained by the teenage victim are not life-threatening. The Long Beach Police Department continues to appeal for any information pertinent to the ongoing investigation.
